French holiday rental house in Noirmoutier

Our comfortable beach house in France offers spacious and stylish holiday accommodation right beside the sea.  It's about 50 yards from the lovely sandy beach of Le Grand Vieil on the presque-ile of Noirmoutier, just south of the Loire estuary on the French Atlantic Coast near Nantes.   

(The island is joined to the mainland - known locally as "le Continent" - by a  both a bridge and a causeway so no ferries involved.  The causeway is passable only 2 hours either side of low tide but is a wonderful way to arrive if the timing is right.)

Formerly the creperie of the little fishing village of Le Vieil, the house has a really light and airy loft- style living room with a seating and a dining area.  There's a large well-equipped cook’s kitchen with central island and lots of space for family meal preparation.  The kitchen has glass doors onto the inner courtyard with a dining table that is perfect for meals outside.  Upstairs from this courtyard there's a fabulous large terrace with sea views - great for sunbathing and a bit like having your own private beach without the sand.

The house has 4 double/twin bedrooms plus a comfortable double sofa bed in the separate Studio annex so can sleep up to 11 people easily.  There is a generous number of bathrooms and an additional outside shower and loo for those coming off the beach and not wanting to bring sand into the house.

The Studio area makes it the perfect French seaside holiday house as part of the family can be away from the rest.  We find that's ideal for multi-generational family seaside bucket and spade holidays when granny perhaps wants a bit of peace or there's a baby that might wake everyone too early.

There’s easy, safe access to the beach, just seconds away from both the front and back doors of the house on sandy lanes with no cars.  The beach is very safe for swimming and at low tide there are many rock pools stuffed with crabs, shrimps and other delights.  You can also join the many people digging for clams to forage for your supper.
